Hike to the Summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) – choose from any of the 6 walking paths!

If you are looking for a Qualified Mountain Leader to guide you, or a group to the summit of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), then I would love to help. I offer private guided hikes up to Snowdon’s summit as well as bespoke mountain days in the Welsh Mountains, whether you’re an individual, a couple, a group or a company looking to do a charity hiking challenge.

The 2 most popular routes up Snowdon are via the Llanberis Path (from the town of Llanberis) – or from Pen y Pass via either the Pyg Track, or Miners Path (or a combination of both). Alternatively I can also lead groups up the Watkin Path, the Snowdon Ranger Path or the Rhyd Ddu Path. Please note however I am not currently offering hikes/scrambles on Crib Goch (the knife-edge ridge which runs above the Pyg Track).

What Will I Need To Bring On The Snowdon Hike?

When you book a Snowdon hike, you will be sent a full kit list of what you will need to bring on the day. It is your responsibility to make sure you have these things or you won’t be able to go up the mountain. The weather can turn extremely quickly and it’s important that each member of the group is sufficiently prepared for this, as well as has enough food and water for themselves for the walk.

For each participant, a typical kit list would include:

  • 35 Litre (ish) Backpack.
  • Lunch (eg sandwiches).
  • Snacks to eat along the way for energy.
  • Water (1.5 litre recommended, no less).
  • Warm Hat & Gloves.
  • Midlayer (eg. Fleece) & a spare.
  • Waterproof Jacket.
  • Suitable trousers for hiking in the rain (not jeans, joggers or similar).
  • Waterproof overtrousers (to wear if needed over your hiking trousers).
  • Suitable hiking boots for rough / mountainous terrain (not trainers).
  • Warm jacket (in case we stop) – a down jacket or something similar.
  • We recommend wearing Merino wool hiking socks for comfort.
  • Sun protection (suncream & sunglasses).
  • Any medication you may need.
  • Head Torch.

Optional:

  • Walking Poles (some people find they help, others don’t).
  • Camera / Camera Phone

Your Mountain Leader / Guide will carry a group First Aid kit, navigational equipment, maps and emergency group shelter.

A Bit About Me..

I am a qualified Mountain Leader based in the North West of England. I am ideally based to serve the areas of Snowdonia, The Lake District, The Peak District and the Yorkshire Dales, but I am also happy to travel further afield if needs be (eg. Scotland, Brecon Beacons & the Cheviots for example). I am fully insured for leading groups and individuals in the Mountains, have a current Outdoors First-Aid certificate and I am a full member of the MTA (Mountain Training Association) and the BMC (British Mountaineering Council).

I am passionate about being outdoors and I spend nearly every moment of my spare time either in the mountains, or hiking various trails in the UK. I like to set myself challenges and I am currently climbing all 446 mountains of England & Wales (currently I have done 383). I have also completed several other challenges, like completing all 214 Wainwrights in the Lake District, doing the 47 mile Windermere Way in 1 day, the 77 mile Cumbria Way in 2 days, the West Highland Way in 3 days and more!

I believe the outdoors provides an unbeatable way of keeping healthy, both physically & mentally. It is the perfect way to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life and being outdoors amongst nature is personally my ultimate therapy. I love being able to inspire others and to show them the benefits that the Outdoors can bring, which is one of the reasons I became a Mountain Leader.
